The 25th anniversary of the La Jolla Historical Society’s Secret Garden Tour opened seven (or eight, on the Platinum ticket) of La Jolla’s best gardens May 18, leading participants around a variety of landscaping designs from smaller and vertical to extensive and wild.
La Jolla’s Secret Garden Tour was the highlight of the weekend. Under an uncharacteristically sunny May sky, the tour’s map ranged from La Jolla Farms through La Jolla Hermosa, including three gardens in The Shores, one in La Jolla Mesa and another in the lower Muirlands.Â
From manicured rose gardens and French- and Italian-themed landscapes to an expansive, meandering garden overlooking an unexpected canyon, each home also included a plein-air artist, musical entertainment and more.
The weekend kicked off May 17 with a party atop the Muirlands and concluded with wine and a vendor boutique at the Historical Society’s Wisteria Cottage.
