For those completely new to the practice, yoga is a wellness practice on many levels, involving breathwork, poses or asanas and more.

Yoga carries great benefits for physical and mental health, and so does La Jolla! Our climate, terrain and proximity to the ocean make La Jolla the perfect place to get and stay healthy.

Through various types of yoga, you’ll be able to increase muscle tone, strength and flexibility while decreasing stress and La Jolla yoga studios offer the most popular yoga styles:

  • Hatha yoga: A gentle introduction to foundational postures.
  • Vinyasa yoga: Flow-based yoga, connecting breath to movement.
  • Hot yoga: Yoga practiced in a heated room for detox and flexibility.
  • Slow flow: Vinyasa yoga at a slower pace for alignment and deeper practice.
  • Restorative and Yin yoga: Yoga focused on relaxation and deep stretches.
  • Aerial yoga: Yoga performed in large pieces of cloth suspended like a hammock or sling to support the body.

La Jolla is no stranger to yogis seeking balance here: you’ll find individuals practicing yoga outside near the coast or inside one of several studios, attending class regularly or through special events. Many studios also offer virtual or livestreamed classes.
