Sets up to 13 feet are expected at local beaches.

The National Weather Service has issued a high surf advisory for Southern California through 4 am Dec 25. 

Large breaking waves of 6 to 10 feet are expected throughout San Diego County, with local sets to 13 feet. 

Locally, Surfline is predicting swells at Black’s Beach of 15 to 18 feet. 

NWS is warning of dangerous swimming and surfing conditions with localized beach erosion and overflow. 

Inexperienced swimmers should remain out of the water for the duration of the advisory; swimming or surfing in these waves may be dangerous for anyone due to the powerful waves and strong rip currents.

Caution is also called for when fishing or observing waves from exposed coastal structures or rocks, as very large waves can suddenly sweep across previously dry areas.
