The Feb 5 incident began when a man caused a disturbance that led to threats. San Diego police officers arrested him; no injuries were reported.
A man has been arrested and booked into jail after causing a disturbance and making threats in La Jolla about 9:15 am Feb 5.
The call to San Diego police originated on Fay Avenue between Pearl and Genter streets, after a man in his 40s attempted to take a toy car near a residence, according to police.
Confronted by a resident, the man stated he had a knife and threatened the reporting party before walking away.
The man was taken into custody a few blocks away with no loss or injuries. He was booked into jail.
The incident caused nearby Gillispie School to follow safety protocol for a “security event,” according to an email sent to parents afterwards.
Gillispie students “remained secure throughout the entire duration of the event,” the letter stated.
The school returned to a normal schedule around 10 am, after police officers “thoroughly swept the immediate area and secured the individual and their belongings,” the letter continued.
