The May 9 incident occurred when the speeding bike rider crashed into a turning car on Pearl Street, leaving the cyclist with a fractured skull.
A dirt bike rider, 30, sustained serious injuries after he collided with a turning car on Pearl Street May 9.
Around 6:30 pm that evening, the male rider of a 2014 Honda dirt bike was heading eastbound near 700 Pearl St as a female driver, 28, headed westbound near 800 Pearl in her 2019 Kia Sorento, according to the San Diego Police Department watch commander’s log.
The car driver attempted a left turn onto southbound 7400 Eads Ave; witnesses reported the dirt bike rider was speeding unsafely while riding the shoulder.
As he entered the intersection, he collided with the car.Â
The dirt bike rider was ejected from his bike, sustaining an intracranial hemorrhage, skull fracture and ruptured eardrum. He was transported to a local hospital and his current condition is unknown.
The car driver remained at the incident site.
