Ambrogio by Acquerello at 7556 Fay Ave. in La Jolla has earned a spot on the Michelin Guide.
Established in late 2022 in La Jolla, Ambrogio by Acquerello is the stateside iteration of Michelin-starred Acquerello, opened outside Milan in 2008.
Ambrogio by Acquerello is one of only 13 restaurants in California to be added to the Michelin Guide July 10 and the only San Diego spot.

The recognition is “an honor for us,” said owner Giacomo Pizzigoni. “This is a great milestone in our journey to bring a new style of Italian cuisine to California and we will be even more motivated to provide a unique and special dining experience.”
Ambrogio by Acquerello offers modern Italian cuisine using the traditional flavors of Milan with Pacific Asian influences and is a collaboration between the San Diego-based Ambrogio15 Restaurant Group and acclaimed chefs Silvio Salmoiraghi and Choi Cheolhyeok of the original Acquerello.
Ambrogio by Acquerello offers a four- or eight-course tasting menu that draws inspiration from France, Korea, Japan, California and Italy.
The full 2024 Michelin Guide California selection, which will determine potential Bib Gourmand or Star awards, will be revealed Monday, Aug. 5.
