USA Today has named La Jolla Shores the no. 8 beach in California, according to the outlet’s May 29 “10Best” list.

The Shores ranked highly for its “picturesque mile-long stretch of sand that sets the scene for relaxation and plenty of activities,” USA Today wrote, adding The Shores “is a highlight of the San Diego area” and a “beloved destination” for locals and tourists.

A panel of experts nominated their best beach picks; readers then voted in their favorites. 

Two other San Diego-area beaches made the top ten. Here are the hottest spots for beach going:
