The wind advisory expires Wednesday, Feb 18; the high surf advisory extends through Friday, Feb 20 and could bring sets to 12 feet.

Amid the bouts of heavy rain in La Jolla, the National Weather Service has issued wind and high surf advisories for San Diego coastal areas including La Jolla.

The wind advisory remains in effect through 8 am Wednesday, Feb 18; the high surf advisory is in effect through 10 pm Friday, Feb 20.

Large breaking waves of 6 to 10 feet, with sets up to 12 feet, are expected, with the highest surf Wednesday, Feb 18. Minor coastal flooding will also be a threat.

The high rip current risk means dangerous swimming and surfing conditions. 

South and southwest winds 15 to 25 mph with gusts 30 to 45 mph are expected. Watch for falling tree limbs and power outages and use extra caution while driving. 

The rain will continue intermittently for several days.
