Monday, June 23 is the best chance for a sunset viewing of the dramatic high tides; Friday, June 27 will have the best sunrise low tide.

Summer will start with an evening showing of “king” tides Monday, June 23 with a high tide at 7.2 feet at 8:07 pm (just after the 8 pm sunset).

“King” tides, marked by the extreme differences between the daily high and low tides, offer a chance to view dramatically crashing waves (especially if the swells are higher than normal) and very low tides, perfect for seeing the tide pools and other parts of the intertidal zones not usually visible.

The lowest visible tide this month will be Friday, June 27, at -1.3 feet at 5:47 am (with sunrise at 5:43 am).

The rest of the king tides in June will occur overnight.
