“King tides” are back in La Jolla this week.
The king tides, explained by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration as “perigean spring tides” marked by the unusually large difference between the high tide and low tide, return Tuesday, June 4 and Wednesday, June 5, but start with a high tide today, June 3, at 7:30 p.m. at 6.24 feet.
The lowest tide June 4 will be at 2:39 a.m. at -0.85 feet; the highest tide will be at 8:07 p.m. at 6.51 feet. June 5, the lowest tide will be at 3:25 a.m. at -1.25 feet, with the highest at 8:46 p.m. at 6.59 feet.
No large swells are expected this week.
