The dramatic high and low tides will be largely confined to nighttime for this midsummer showing.
The “king” tides return to La Jolla Tuesday, July 22, for a mostly overnight pull of high and low tides.
The high tide for July 22 will be just after sunset at 8:02 pm with a height of 7.1 feet. The low tide at 2: 43 am will be at -1.0 feet.
The rest of the king tides, noted for their extreme differences between the daily high and low tides, will occur during darkness, with high tides at 8:50, 9:34 and 10:16 pm for July 23-25, respectively; and low tides at 3:26, 4:06 and 4:43 am for the same days.
