Heat wave to start September

The hottest conditions are expected Wednesday through Friday.

La Jolla is heating up this week, with high temperatures Sept. 3 through 10 between 75 and 83 degrees. The warmest days will be Thursday, Sept. 5 and Friday, Sept. 6 at 83 and 82 degrees, respectively.

Temperatures, due to high pressure strengthening over Southern California this week, will remain 5 to 10 degrees above average at the coast for the duration of the heat wave, according to the National Weather Service.

The marine layer will become shallower with night and morning low clouds becoming patchier.
