A completion date is not yet known.
Repairs to The Children’s Pool seawall railing began Sept. 23.
The seawall sustained damage to a few of its railings during severe swells caused by winter storms in December; the seawall has been closed to the public since Dec. 31 as the city of San Diego had to wait until seal pupping season ended in May.
Repairing the railings begins with coring work to drill holes, city spokesperson Benny Cartwright said, adding the work is being done “by an outside vendor and is expected to take several days to complete.”
The city’s General Services Department will then take final measurements and begin installation of the railings, Cartwright said.
A timeline for seawall reopening will not be available until the coring work is finished.
