The nominations must be submitted by Friday, Feb 28 and must relate to projects undertaken in 2024, and can be for activities or people.

The city of San Diego’s Preservation Awards will return for 2025 and the City Planning Department is now taking nominations through Friday, Feb 28 via this submission form.

The awards, organized by the city’s Historical Resources Board, aim to recognize preservation projects, activities and people with an outstanding commitment to historic preservation.

Nominations must be for preservation activities completed in 2024 and located within city limits. Nominations will be accepted under the following categories:

• Preservation projects: rehabilitation or restoration projects; adaptive reuse of historic buildings, structures sites or cultural landscapes; or archaeology projects.
• Preservation activities: activities related to the identification, protection and interpretation of historic and prehistoric resources; innovative efforts in historic preservation education, public outreach or interpretive programs; exemplary stewardship of historic places; and more.
• People in preservation: organizations or individuals who have shown exemplary leadership or dedication to preservation.

The winners will be announced in May to commemorate National Historic Preservation Month and will be celebrated at the May Historical Resources Board meeting.
