The city is awaiting more information before deciding on the permit applications.
The city of San Diego is reviewing an Emergency coastal development permit and emergency site development permit application for coastal bluff repair at 5322 and 5316 Calumet Ave.
The project proposes a reinforced shotcrete wall to address continuing, observed bluff erosion, with the recent rainfall raising some concerns, city spokesperson Richard Berg said.
While inspecting the site, city staff observed additional bluff erosion extending beyond the stated property of 5322 Calumet Ave, Berg said, which led them to continue discussions with the applicant’s representative and incorporate the property at 5316 Calumet into the existing application.
City staff are awaiting additional information from the applicant to proceed, Berg said.
The emergency coastal permits, if approved, will require the applicant to commence work as soon as possible and be completed within 30 days, though extensions are possible.
