Denial of Wrelton rebuild ratified by community planners

The project’s representative did not appear for the requested presentation, leading to the unanimous vote.

The La Jolla Community Planning Association voted unanimously April 3 to ratify the La Jolla Development Permit Review Committee’s denial of a project at 625 Wrelton Drive.

The proposal for a remodel and addition to the existing, two-story single-dwelling and roof deck unit to become a two-story, single-dwelling unit with a roof deck on the 0.29-acre site was rejected on second DPR review in February for failing to produce missing plan details, including a floor plan of each floor showing the proposed new floor plan over the former; setback lines for each floor plan; height limits for every elevation and section; section illustrations; and reason this is an amendment to a previous permit instead of a new project.

Attorney Matthew Khalil, representative for the project, asked that LJCPA pull the project from the group’s March 6 consent agenda for a full presentation, claiming new information exists about the project.

However, Khalil sent a message his team would not present as scheduled April 3, LJCPA President Harry Bubbins said. “They are going to go along with the committee’s recommendation … to reject.”

Since the item was brought for LJCPA action, the board moved to formally support DPR’s denial of the project.
