Circumstances surrounding a boat that came ashore June 11 at Windansea is under investigation.
U.S. Customs and Border Patrol agents responded to a report around 3:15 p.m. of a “suspicious recreational vessel making landfall near Windansea Beach in La Jolla,” according to the CBP.
Around the same time, videos and reports of the event surfaced on social media.
CPB agents located an abandoned vessel matching the description in the report; as of 8 a.m. June 12, no arrests have been made in connection with this suspected human smuggling event.



An investigation into the matter is ongoing and CBP agents seized the vessel for its suspected use as a smuggling conveyance.
