The beach hazards statement is in effect now for San Diego County north through Orange County coastal areas.
The National Weather Service has issued a beach hazards statement for San Diego County coastal areas including La Jolla from 11 am Thursday, July 3, through Saturday, July 5. Elevated surf of three to six feet is expected, especially for south-facing beaches.
Strong rip currents will create hazardous swimming conditions.
Both swell and surf will begin to lower by early Sunday, July 6, decreasing further into Monday, July 7.Â
NWS advises avoiding the water and hazardous swimming conditions.
Additionally, the county’s Department of Environmental Health and Quality has ongoing water advisories for La Jolla Cove and Children’s Pool beaches due to bacteria levels.
