The fire on Avenida Andorra in the Muirlands West neighborhood appears to have started outside and spread to an attic, though the specific cause is unknown.
A structure fire at 6608 Avenida Andorra at the corner of Nautilus Street in La Jolla was quickly knocked down by San Diego Fire-Rescue crews as medics transported one injured person to the hospital May 27.
The fire began as an exterior fire around 1:30 pm, according to San Diego fire Captain Jason Shanley.
About 76 fire-rescue personnel were dispatched to the residence, where the fire spread to most of the attic, sending visible smoke into the air.
The fire was extinguished within about 20 minutes, Shanley said.
The hospitalized person’s injuries were not life threatening, he added.Â
During the cleanup, which took a few hours, American Red Cross representatives arrived to accommodate two adults and two children, although it’s unconfirmed if these are displaced residents.
An investigation into the cause of the fire is ongoing.
