The Aug 27 incident near 6400 Soledad Mountain Rd left a sedan driver uninjured after the moped turned left in front of the sedan. SDPD is investigating.
A serious injury collision between a moped and sedan Aug 27 in La Jolla sent the moped driver, believed to be under the influence of alcohol, to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.
The crash occurred about 3:49 pm, when the electric moped driver, 57, was driving southbound at 6400 Soledad Mountain Rd. A man, 46, driving northbound in a 2014 Nissan Altima sedan, approached the intersection of Soledad Mountain Road and Caminito Blythefield, near the Windemere development.
The moped driver began a left turn from the southbound travel lane, violating the sedan driver’s right of way and impacting the car, according to information from the San Diego police.
The moped driver, determined to be driving under the influence of alcohol, was transported to a local hospital with a collapsed lung, broken rib and arm laceration. His current condition is unknown.
The sedan driver was uninjured.
