Gun stolen from wedding venue not recovered

A missing firearm led to the police report.

A firearm went missing from a wedding venue bathroom and has not yet been recovered.

Police responded to a report at 7:20 pm Dec 12 at the rooftop above La Jolla Cove Hotel & Suites at 1155 Coast Boulevard, where a private security officer was working the wedding venue, went to the bathroom and removed his gun but forgot to get it when he left, according to San Diego police Lt. Bryan Brecht.

The security officer, who had a permit to carry a concealed gun, didn’t realize he’d left the gun until sometime later.

The theft is recorded as felony grand theft of a firearm.
