A vehicle pulled over onto the shoulder near 2400-2600 block of La Jolla Parkway around 2:15 p.m. June 20 and caught fire; the fire spread to the adjacent brush.
The reporting party stated the vehicle’s brakes had failed, prompting the car to veer into the hillside to stop before it caught fire, according to San Diego police.
No injuries were reported.
San Diego firefighters responded quickly; their efforts and the ice plant present in the brush prevented the fire from spreading, according to San Diego Fire-Rescue spokesperson Monica Muñoz.
Only a 100-by-100-foot area of brush burned.
