The June 14 apprehension of 11 Mexican nationals happened about 22 miles offshore. The migrants are now in US Border Patrol custody.
The crew of the US Coast Guard Cutter Active interdicted 11 migrants found aboard a 20-foot cabin cruiser vessel approximately 22 miles west of La Jolla June 14.
The Cutter Active monitored a vessel with no navigational lights and multiple people on board about 5 am.
The Active launched a boarding team to interdict the vessel; no force was used.
The 11 migrants aboard claimed Mexican nationality and were apprehended and transferred to the custody of the US Border Patrol at Ballast Point later that afternoon.
