For the third time in as many weeks, an empty boat has washed up in La Jolla.
A small vessel beached near the La Jolla Beach & Tennis Club sometime overnight May 10 or early May 11. San Diego Fire-Rescue Department lifeguards were notified at 6 a.m. May 11, according to department spokesperson Mónica Muñoz.
“No people were seen in the area of the vessel,” she said, adding a contractor removed the boat later that day.
The Coast Guard was not present, indicating this was likely a private vessel.

Danielle Giberson, who runs an ocean adventure company and works for Everyday California, saw the abandoned boat as it was being removed and took video midmorning May 11 while running a kayak tour from The Shores.
The contractor used an inflatable buoy to prop the boat up so a trailer would fit underneath the vessel, Giberson said.
It’s the third in a recent string of similar incidents.
