A 42-year-old woman has been arrested after the words “slow down” appeared in spray-painted capital letters on several Bird Rock streets.
The woman was arrested for felony vandalism, due to costs incurred to cover up the vandalism, according to San Diego police Lt. Matthew Botkin.
The city attorney’s office filed charges March 15 on two counts of vandalism; arraignment is set for Monday, March 18, according to city attorney spokesperson Andrew Sharp.
Photos of the “slow down” signs were posted to Instagram and Nextdoor beginning Feb 14, with many acknowledging speeding cars in Bird Rock are a problem but describing the painted signs as “worthless” or a “nuisance.”
