Edman was also named the 2024 National League Championship Series Most Valuable Player.

La Jolla Country Day School alum Tommy Edman kicks off his World Series debut Friday, Oct. 25 in Los Angeles as the Dodgers face off against the New York Yankees for the 2024 MLB championship.

Edman was also named Most Valuable Player of the 2024 National League Championship Series as it ended Oct. 20, with the Dodgers routing the New York Mets to secure their place in the World Series.

Edman graduated LJCDS in 2013 after starting for Torrey baseball all four years, coached by his father, Coach John Edman and setting the school’s single-season record for runs scored, according to the LJCDS website.

Tommy Edman also helped lead the Torreys to the first CIF baseball championship in school history his sophomore year. He holds the LJCDS career record for hits, runs, stolen bases, and ERA.

In the decade-plus since, Edman played baseball at Stanford University, where he earned a degree in math and computational science and was named First-team All-Pac-12, All-Pac-12 Defensive Team, and All-Pac-12 Academic Team.

The St. Louis Cardinals selected Edman in the sixth round of the 2016 MLB draft; he made his MLB debut in 2019, earning the National League Gold Glove at second base in 2021.

This is Edman’s first season with the Dodgers. During Game 6 of the NLCS, he had two hits, including a two-run home run in the third inning.

Edman will start at shortstop Oct. 25 as the Dodgers vie for their eighth World Series title.
