After more than a year, the busy intersection is fully open as an emergency project to repair a storm drain is concluded.

All vehicle lanes are open at the intersection of La Jolla Village Drive and Villa La Jolla, a year after work began to repair a storm drain. That work is now complete.

Traffic is now flowing normally, after various lane closures caused backups and traffic snarls since July 2024.

The emergency repair involved replacement of a damaged section of aging storm drain under the street. The storm drain collapsed, resulting in a sinkhole.

More closures may be needed in the future as a project to resurface and restore the road is set to begin soon.
