A transformer fire was reported at 443 Rosemont St. about 2:34 p.m. Oct. 7; San Diego Fire units are responding.
“Someone called to report seeing flames and smoke from what they believe to be a power pole,” city of San Diego spokesperson Perette Godwin.
As of 3:42 p.m., crews were still on the scene, she added, with about four blocks blocked off so emergency responders are able to work.
Simultaneously, power went out in surrounding neighborhoods – including all traffic lights on Pearl Street from Girard to Draper avenues, at residential and commercial businesses and at La Jolla Elementary School – with San Diego Gas & Electric reporting 1,900 customers affected.
Power was restored by 4:25 p.m.
