According to signage placed on the road, the work will continue from 7 am to 4 pm on two forthcoming weekends in La Jolla.

Signs on Torrey Pines Road between Princess Street and Coast Walk indicate a lane blockage that snarled traffic over the weekend will continue for two more weekends in May.

The signs say there is no parking from 7 am to 4 pm Saturdays and Sundays, May 17, 30 and 31; the signage also includes the past weekend, May 9 and 10, when a large crane parked outside 1644 Torrey Pines Rd closed one westbound lane, snarling traffic into La Jolla for hours.

Several merchants said their businesses were impacted by the unannounced lane closure and resultant traffic.

The work is not SDG&E-related, the utility company confirmed, and city of San Diego spokespeople told lajolla.ca the work does not appear to be city-related; they were further unable to determine whether permits for the weekend lane closure exist.

Those planning to be in The Village May 17, 30 or 31 should plan for extra time or alternate routes.
