Next year’s budget is the largest in the club’s 100-year history.

The Kiwanis Club of La Jolla will grant $530,000 to nonprofit organizations and schools in 2025, its foundation recently announced.

This will be the club’s largest budget in its 100-year history; the record-setting amount is due in large part to the proceeds from the La Jolla Half Marathon and 5K, which netted $350,000, a new record in the event’s 47-years.

Kiwanis Club of La Jolla recognized community members for their outstanding volunteer work at the club’s 100th anniversary dinner Sept. 28: the National Charity League Seaside Chapter (award accepted by chapter president Siobhan Strott) and father-daughter volunteers Ravi Shiwmangal and Nirvana Shiwmangal.

Founded in 1925, the Kiwanis Club of La Jolla serves the La Jolla and San Diego communities. Club events and fundraisers include the Junior Olympics, La Jolla Half Marathon and 5K, Concerts by the Sea, Pancake Breakfast and Cove Swim.

The club meets at the La Jolla Community Center for lunch and features speakers on the second and fourth Fridays of the month. Members of the community are welcome to attend.
