Living in or visiting Bird Rock now comes with even more perks – an app full of merchant discounts.

The Bird Rock Community Council launched the Bird Rock Perks app April 10, with which users can redeem discounts at Bird Rock businesses, support local merchants and encourage new visitors to stores.

“It’s about bringing the community together,” BRCC board member Craig Bender said at the April 9 BRCC meeting.

The Bird Rocks Perk app is available to paid BRCC members (there is a $50 annual fee to join; Bird Rock residency is not required). 

Dozens of Bird Rock merchants are offering discounts with many more businesses coming, Bender said. The app includes a map of all participating shops along La Jolla Boulevard.

All BRCC members will receive an email to download the app and instructions to activate, board member Lake Price said. 

“It’s a great idea,” board member Joe Parker said. 

“We’re just getting started with this,” Bender said.
