Hungry for something fresh and organic? A new market is open in Bird Rock.
With sunshine in the form of fresh, organic food, yellow chairs and umbrellas, Beach Break, a grab & go market selling ready-to-eat meals, snacks and juices, opened Aug. 1 at 5646 La Jolla Blvd.
The food is high-quality convenience, featuring meals like curry chicken salad, roasted beet pasta salad, stuffed poblano peppers, and orange and fennel salad, charcuterie snack box and more.

“The idea is just fresh, seasonal ingredients,” said owner Alec Hurley. “And always organic.”
Perfect for those grabbing something on their way to or from the beach or anyone looking for something special on their lunch break from work, it’s all ready to take out in containers that are 100 percent compostable.
“I don’t want to sacrifice that,” he said.
Beach Break also offers house-made market items, like herb butters, pickles, protein bars and granola.
“Our cherry mochi is absolutely delicious,” Hurley added.
Beach Break is also now the storefront for Hurley’s company Deeply Nourished, a catering and meal delivery company serving San Diego County with two delivery days each week and a focus on food without gluten, dairy or soy.
The market will also be able to take orders for platters and book onsite catering and events, along with a space for intimate dinners and other small gatherings, Hurley said.
It’s all “operating under one roof now,” he said.

“I want this to become a go to spot for all the locals,” Hurley said.
