The tenth location is the company’s second La Jolla spot.

Coffee lovers rejoice – a new location of Bird Rock Coffee Roasters is now open in La Jolla, at 8980 Villa La Jolla Drive in the new UC San Diego 8980 Building.

The tenth storefront of Bird Rock Coffee opened its doors Aug. 17. “It’s going better than expected,” said operating owner Jeff Taylor.

This location is serving the same quality roasts Bird Rock Coffee is known for, along with its seasonal beverages and more.

And special to this location, pending city of San Diego clearance: wood-fired pizzas. 

“We’re always looking to keep it fresh and have fun with what we’re doing,” Taylor said.

The business will announce on Instagram (@birdrockcoffeeroasters) when the pizzas are ready for slicing, he said. 

This location marks the second La Jolla spot for the company after its original anchor in Bird Rock; opening a new store has “always been about where the opportunities” are, Taylor said.

Noting this new space might be their busiest location yet, due to the students and pedestrian traffic, Taylor said Bird Rock Coffee Roasters is “eager to provide them with great coffee.”
