For the second year, the La Jolla Beach & Tennis Club is planning a drone show for July 4 and is now seeking donations to help fund it.
Last year’s inaugural event, held in lieu of traditional fireworks, presented drones in several formations visible not only from the club, but also from La Jolla Shores Beach, The Cove and other locales.
This year’s show – which will increase the number of drones used from 100 to 200 – is already booked, Beach & Tennis Club President Bill Kellogg told the Jan 10 meeting of the La Jolla Shores Association.
“It would be an improved and updated show,” Kellogg said.
The show will cost about $40,000, he said; the club is contributing $10,000.
“It was a really nice addition to the Fourth of July last year, [with] many many positive comments, Kellogg said.
