Tuesday, November 14, 6:30 pm- Artist Talk with Jean Lowe

Join multimedia artist Jean Lowe for an artist talk at the Athenaeum Music & Arts Library on November 14, 2023. Lowe will discuss her career, process, recent projects, and debut her video episode Love is Blind: Boomer Edition. The talk will include short skits borrowing from reality shows and situated within her overarching oeuvre. Lowe frequently employs satire to create a fresh perspective on everyday issues. the event includes a reception at 6 p.m. and the artist talk at 6:30 p.m.

Friday, November 17, 6:30 pm-8:30 pm- Exhibition Opening, Anne Labovitz ‘Blue Hour’

Anne Labovitz, Well-Being Light Windows I–III, 2023

Anne Labovitz’s Blue Hour exhibition will be on view at the Joseph Clayes III and Rotunda galleries from November 18, 2023, to January 13, 2024. the exhibition explores the use of light and color in large-scale works to challenge isolation, loneliness, and disconnection. Labovitz’s works aim to provide viewers with a moment of pause, contemplation, and awe. the exhibition includes small libraries, illuminated windows, and Tyvek sculptures that invite viewers to experience serenity and emergent energy. Labovitz will also give an artist talk on December 14, 2023, with tickets priced at $15. Get tickets here.
