The celebration included live music, an oyster bar and more, attracting a long line outside the Hawaiian footwear brand’s new La Jolla store.
The long lines did nothing to sour the celebratory mood at Hawaiian footwear brand OluKai’s grand opening event for its new La Jolla store. The June 20 party garnered $7,500 in donations from sale proceeds for the La Jolla Coastal Conservancy.
The grand opening party featured live music by La Jolla musician Zach Barnhorst, Hemingway’s Mobile Oyster Bars, Windansea Coconuts cocktails and more, with attendees lined up for several yards outside the store waiting to browse and buy.
OluKai, a 20-year brand of sandals and other shoes exemplifying the Hawaiian lifestyle, opened its first San Diego retail store much as it does in other locations, selecting a local nonprofit that fits with OluKai’s brand values: coastal living and community involvement.
Visitors to the new OluKai store at 7884 Girard Ave in The Village will see the La Jolla location is modeled with the local sea caves, tide pools, shapes and colors in mind.
La Jolla Coastal Conservancy will use the donation to directly support repairs of the fence line from La Jolla Cove to Goldfish Point, protecting both visitors and wildlife, LJCC President Brenda Fake said.
