La Jolla Christmas Parade and Holiday Festival set for Dec 8

Themed “Palm Trees & Poinsettias,” this year’s annual event will bring thousands to The Village to celebrate the season.

Find parking early and come ready to applaud: The 68th annual La Jolla Christmas Parade & Holiday Festival is Sunday, Dec 8.

Themed “Palm Trees & Poinsettias: A California Christmas,” this year’s parade will feature all the elements the parade has traditionally offered: floats from local organizations, marching bands from around the region, dancers, equestrian groups, local dignitaries and community leaders and more.

The parade begins, as usual, at 1:30 pm along Girard Avenue at Kline Street, rolling north before turning west on Prospect Street and ending at the La Jolla Recreation Center.

The Holiday Festival will be open at 11:30 am along Wall Street, with Santa visits, interactive activities for all and more.

“I love the parade,” said parade float director and social media manager Eric Fletcher, who is in his fourth year volunteering with the parade, “because it’s a big highlight of La Jolla. The community comes together.”
