The Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego transformed itself into a dynamic canvas for its inaugural Avant Garde Ball May 3.
The new spring fundraiser, planned to repeat yearly, sold out in its first iteration and included celebrations of art, music and fashion for its 400-plus guests.
Chaired by Anna Haudenschild Meier, Jennifer Nelson and Alex High, the Avant Garde Ball also included boundary-pushing activations, showcasing art on the runway as well as the walls.
The Avant Garde Ball invited creatives, innovators and art lovers into MCASD for a night of self-expression, an offshoot of MCASD’s Avant Garde Membership, meant to connect young professionals with artists, curators, collectors and like-minded peers amongst contemporary art.
The ball, themed “Contemporary Couture,” had guests arrive in bold, art-inspired attire and engage with a live-installed wheat paste mural; an interactive, contemporary ballet performance; a vintage good pop up,; DJ sets and more.
VIP guests enjoyed artist meet-and-greet; portrait sessions with Stacy Keck; and more.
