Rose gold: Justin Rose takes Farmers Insurance Open wire-to-wire

Rose’s 13th PGA Tour was a record-breaking win at 23 under par and the first wire-to-wire finish for the La Jolla tournament since 1955.

With a marvelous match to go with the marvelous weather at Torrey Pines, Justin Rose shot a final-round 70 to win the 2026 Farmers Insurance Open Feb 1.

The victory is the fourth wire-to-wire finish at the long-running tournament (the last wire-to-wire win here was in 1955) and Rose’s 13th PGA Tour win, which earned him $1.73 million and “a lot of self-satisfaction,” he said in a post-game interview.

Rose shot a final-round 70, giving him a seven-stroke lead over a three-way tie for second place. Rose’s total for the four-day tournament was 23 under par, breaking the previous record of 22 under (George Burns in 1987 and Tiger Woods in 1999).

The Farmers Insurance Open is “one of my favorite tournaments to come to,” Rose said, and the crowds agreed: with high temperatures in the 70s, thousands walked the course, wandered through the lounges and viewing areas and clapped for the players.

This was the 17th and final year for the Farmers Insurance sponsorship; tournament organizers The Century Club of San Diego is engaged in the search for the next sponsor.
