Jakub Skyvara brings global management experience to La Jolla.
The Lodge at Torrey Pines has a new general manager in Jakub Skyvara, who takes over from Bill Gross, who has retired.
Skyvara has previously worked at The Resort at Pelican Hill in Orange County; Sunset Marquis Hotel & Villas in West Hollywood; and Viceroy Hotels and Resorts in Santa Monica.
He has also been general manager of Michelin-starred restaurants at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel in Hong Kong and held various management positions at Four Seasons properties in Santa Fe, Los Angeles, Lanai, Philadelphia and Prague.
Skyvara’s extensive experience around the world and “his passion for fostering extraordinary guest and employee experiences make him the ideal leader to continue the tradition of Five Diamond excellence at The Lodge,” Robert Gleason said in a press release.
Gleason is the president and chief executive for Evans Hotels, which owns The Lodge along with Catamaran Resort Hotel and Spa, and the Bahia Resort Hotel.
Gross, who began his career at Evans Hotels in 2006, “has left a lasting legacy on The Lodge and the entire Evans Hotels family,” Gleason said. “His significant accomplishments and leadership has inspired countless team members.”
