Other locations of Peet’s will remain open following a 2025 corporate acquisition of the coffee brand’s company.

Fans of Peet’s Coffee in The Village of La Jolla will have to find somewhere else to enjoy lattes, Wi-Fi and more: the shop at 7910 Girard Ave will shut down Friday, Jan 30 in the afternoon.

The closure is due to a corporate buyout, according to an employee at the Girard Avenue store: Keurig Dr Pepper bought JDE Peet’s in August and is set to close some of the less lucrative Peet’s.

The Girard Avenue Peet’s, in the historic Arcade Building, opened in 2017 after the closure of the coffee brand’s Villa La Jolla Drive shop. 

The next nearest location of Peet’s is in the UTC neighborhood at 8905 Towne Centre Dr.
