La Jolla is extra caffeinated lately, with a double shot of new shops and a summer pop-up adding to the cafe scene.
La Jolla isn’t short on cafes and other spots for lattes, Americanos and more. A double shot of new cafes and one pop-up (hurry, only a few days left!) just added to the variety, and there’s never been a better time to caffeinate your day in La Jolla.
Cup of Bloom
New, permanent cafe Cup of Bloom has been planted at the 1055 Torrey Pines Rd spot formerly occupied by Bridget’s Blooms. In fact, it’s co-owned by Bridget Lindroth, with a garden setting designed by Lindroth herself.
Co-owner Eddie Shin, a longtime La Jollan himself, said Cafe Bloom is Lindroth’s vision, offering high-quality beverages in a lush environment.
And the menu? “It’s all about the coffee,” Shin said, with crafted Coffee Cycle Roasting drinks along with French Gourmet pastries and fresh salads and sandwiches from a local caterer.
“We want people to hang out,” he said.
Cup of Bloom is open daily from 8 am to 4 pm.
Immersion Coffee
Little Italy spot Immersion Coffee opened its second location at 6905 La Jolla Blvd several weeks ago, to long lines anticipating its menu sans syrups and shortcuts but with plenty of flavor.
From Immersion’s signature Orange Latte to its Strawberry Matcha with housemade purees, Immersion’s drinks are made to be as stylish as they are delicious.
Immersion Coffee is open daily 8 am to 3 pm except Mondays.
One of One pop-up
For three more days, coffee pop-up One of One will appear at the Athenaeum Music & Arts Library, 1008 Wall St. Owner Kristin Cleavinger’s concept of storytelling and community through coffee normally appears in North Park, but when the Athenaeum reached out for a summer collaboration, Cleavinger was eager to bring her Filipino-, female-owned brand to La Jolla.
With Philippines-based coffee beans and a memory behind each drink, Cleavinger is pouring high quality into each cup, with housemade syrups and mostly organic ingredients.
Catch One of One from 9 am to 1 pm Thursday through Saturday, July 24 through 26.
