La Jolla Beach & Tennis Club completes first phase of $60M renovation

Amid the refurbished pool deck and tennis courts and revamped gathering spaces, the club is also celebrating 90 years with anniversary packages.

The La Jolla Beach & Tennis Club has completed the first phase of its $60 million renovation, unveiling resurfaced and redone pool deck, tennis courts, outdoor gathering spaces and more.

The fifth-generation, family-owned and operated resort aligned the renovations with its 90th year, and is now offering limited anniversary packages including special merchandise and experiences.

“The Beach Club has always been a place members treasure and visitors return to year after year, generation after generation,” managing director Michael O’Donohue said in a press release.

“As we commemorate 90 years, our focus is on making the experience even more enjoyable. The new spaces and updated amenities reflect what people have always loved about the Beach Club while adding more comfort, more connection and more reasons to keep coming back.”

The renovation, led by Los Angeles-based design firm Studio UNLTD, expanded the pool deck layout and added upgraded seating options including private cabanas, family lounges and chaise lounges, along with a wood-fired Marra Forni pizza oven.

The revamped Club Dining Room pairs with the recently-launched menus.

The club also features a new indoor/outdoor market with grab-and-go meals, house-made dips, artisan snacks, fresh-baked breads and premium cuts of meat, along with curated wines, craft beers and other provisions.
