A car plowed through a tree and damaged a memorial bench in the early morning hours of May 24, at the southwest corner of Herschel Avenue and Wall Street near Life Time La Jolla.
The damage was discovered at daybreak, according to Brian Earley, manager of the Maintenance Assessment District for The Village.
The tree and bench were damaged beyond repair. City of San Diego crews removed the large debris; Enhance La Jolla, which oversees the MAD, took care of the remaining cleanup.
No other information is available, according to San Diego police.Â
Enhance La Jolla will be replacing the tree, which was a fully mature magnolia, Earley said.
The bench will likely not be replaced.
Enhance La Jolla President Ed Witt urged people to check their cameras for possible vehicle identification.
