Sizing up for more merchandise, employees and customers, Goodwill’s new La Jolla location is two blocks away from the previous space.

With long lines eager for a peek at the upgrades, Goodwill opened its new La Jolla retail store Jan 21 at 7849 Herschel Ave.

The space is a relocation; Goodwill closed its Girard Avenue shop a few days prior, moving to the new, two-story building on Herschel which boasts more than twice the square footage and will allow the nonprofit to display more merchandise including clothing, housewares, furniture and more.

The grand opening included a ribbon cutting, snacks, raffles and discounts, all of which drew a crowd of prospective customers.

Donations are accepted from 9 am to 6 pm behind the store, in the alley between Herschel and Ivanhoe avenues.
