San Diego Restaurant Week’s list of more than 100 eateries featuring multi-course menus includes seven La Jolla spots: Brockton Villa, Duke’s La Jolla, George’s at the Cove, Piazza 1909, Puesto La Jolla, The Shores Restaurant and Taste of the Himalayas.
Restaurant Week runs Sunday, Sept 24 through Sunday, Oct 1.
1) Brockton Villa
Brockton Villa will be offering three courses for $45 from a menu curated by executive chef Mareya Sisbarro.
Starter options include a cup of chowder, crab cakes, “Next Level” kale Caesar, and Margherita flatbread.
Entree choices are salmon puttanesca, sumac spiced roasted chicken, Mediterranean linguine, chimichurri hanger steak, and lobster campanelle.
Dessert options are dessert “Coast toast,” flourless dark chocolate torte, and chocolate chipotle bread pudding.
“We are looking forward to introducing people to our restaurant,” Brockton Villa owner Megan Heine said, noting the Restaurant Week crowd is a “good blend” of regular and new customers.
2) Dukes La Jolla
Duke’s La Jolla is offering a two-course lunch menu (entree and first course or dessert) and a three-course dinner menu (first course, entree and dessert).
Lunch is $30; first course choices are Caesar salad, poke tacos, panko-crusted calamari, and Korean sticky ribs.
Lunch entree options are fish tacos, Duke’s classic burger, “Hurricane” chicken, and sautéed macadamia nut & herb-crusted fresh fish.
Lunch desserts are “Kimo’s Original Hula Pie” and key lime pie.
Dinner is $50. First course choices are coconut shrimp, Korean sticky ribs, poke tacos, and rocket salad.
Dinner entrees include sautéed macadamia nut & herb-crusted fresh fish, wild mushroom and spinach ravioli, filet mignon, and furikake ahi steak.
Dinner desserts are “Kimo’s Original Hula Pie” and key lime pie.
3) Georges at the Cove
George’s at the Cove, which is celebrating 40 years, is offering a two-course lunch and three-course dinner from chef/partner Trey Foshee, executive chef Masa Kojima, and pastry chef Aly Lyng.
Lunch is $25 and includes a choice of an appetizer and entrée or an entrée and dessert. Dinner is $60 per person and includes an appetizer, entrée, and dessert.
Appetizer options include chips with guacamole and salsa, crispy shrimp, local tuna crudo, chopped salad, and more. Lunch entrées include blackened local fish tacos, poached local tuna melt, and fried chicken sandwich.
Dinner selections include Wild Isles salmon, seared rare local yellowtail, Jidori Airline chicken, rigatoni, and linguini & clams.
Chef Lyng’s dessert menu features warm chocolate cake, guava tres leches, vanilla bean crème brûlée and trio of seasonal sorbets.
Reservations are strongly recommended, especially around sunset times.
4) Piazza 1909
Piazza 1909 offers a $29 “Truffle Brunch,” which includes an entree and dessert or drink, and a $49, three-course dinner, including a starter, main course, and dessert.
Brunch entree choices are one of three eggs Benedict with truffle (either crab cake, bacon, or tomato and spinach), gnocchi cacio e pepe with truffle, or pizza with stracchino, asparagus, pork cheek, and truffle.
Brunch dessert and drink options are “chocolate lover” ganache, mousse with white chocolate and mango, crumbled cannolo with ricotta and pistachios, a glass of Prosecco, or a mimosa.
Dinner starter choices include potato veloute with pork cheek and black truffle, Baja grouper carpaccio, veal and tomato appetizer, and bruschetta trio.
Dinner main course options are butternut squash and sausage ravioli, gnocchi with gorgonzola sauce, and eggplant parmigiana; other entrees are available for an additional charge.
Dinner’s dessert course includes a choice of profiteroles, “chocolate lover” and a ricotta cheesecake.
Those who love Piazza 1909 chef Stefano’s recipes or “true Italian cuisine made from scratch” should not miss the Restaurant Week offerings, said owner Roberta Ruffini. “The food, ambiance, and personable service will make your experience a memorable one.”
5) Puesto La Jolla
Puesto La Jolla’s Restaurant Week offerings include a $25, two-course lunch including chips and one of three guacamole options (classic, Puesto Perfect, or nogada) and two of nine taco options (such as tamarindo shrimp, pozole, mushroom and more).
For dinner, Puesto will feature a $35, three-course meal that includes the above options plus the choice of passionfruit & mango shrimp ceviche or ceviche verde.
6) The Shores Restaurant
The Shores Restaurant is offering three courses for $50.
First course choices are watermelon jalapeño salad, Carlsbad black mussels, ceviche mixto tostado, and queso fundido.
Main course choices are birria short rib, Baja fish trio, grilled adobo octopus, and pomodoro linguine.
The dessert course options are homemade flan and mudd pie.
7) Taste of the Himalayas
Taste of the Himalayas is offering both lunch and dinner menus.
The $25 lunch includes an appetizer (veggie samosa, veggie pakora or momo), entree (choice of navratan korma, chicken tikka masala, chicken korma or khukara ko masu), and dessert (gulab jamun) or drink (mango lassi).
The $35 dinner includes an appetizer (veggie samosa, veggie pakora or momo), entree (choice of paneer or veggie tikka masala, chicken tikka masala, chicken korma or khukara ko masu), naan bread, dessert (gulab jamun) and drink or soup.
