Publishers Weekly has named Warwick’s in La Jolla its “Bookstore of the Year 2024.”
“Warwick’s is honored,” said fourth-generation owner Nancy Warwick, whose family has owned the shop continuously for 128 years.
William T. Warwick founded Warick’s in Mankato, Minnesota, in 1896, moving it to Waterloo, Iowa, in 1916.
William T. Warwick, whose sister lived in La Jolla, sold the Waterloo store and purchased what was Redding’s bookstore on Girard Avenue, renaming it Warwick’s and establishing it as a La Jolla icon into the next century.
“We are so happy to share this distinction with our La Jolla community, who has loyally supported the store for decades,” Nancy Warwick said.
“We look forward to continuing to share our love of all things books for another 128 years.”
