Nominations are in for the San Diego Architectural Foundation’s annual Orchids & Onions program and four properties in La Jolla are nominated.
Orchids and onions are awarded to buildings (not designers, developers or people) that enhance (orchid) or degrade (onion) public life, and are nominated by anyone, following guidelines including the buildings must be located within San Diego County or Tijuana and completed as of January 2021.Â
In 92037, the Scripps Park Pavilion/La Jolla Comfort Station and Ted and Jean Scripps Marine Conservation and Technology Facility are nominated in the public architecture category; Queenstown Village and The Whaling Bar are nominated in interior design.
Four buildings on the main UC San Diego campus are also nominated.
The winners, selected by a SDAF jury, will be announced Oct. 3.Â
