Athenaeum seeks entries for 34th annual Juried Exhibition

Artists must live, work or exhibit in San Diego County or Tijuana and can submit up to three works including two- and three-dimensional pieces or videos.

Calling local artists: The Athenaeum Music & Arts Library has opened its submission period for its 34th annual Juried Exhibition. Through Tuesday, June 30, artists may enter up to three different works for juror consideration.

The 2026 juror is photographer and artist Paul Mpagi Sepuya, known for his New York portrait series in the early 2000s and now an associate visual arts professor at UC San Diego.

Artists submitting works must live, work or exhibit in San Diego County or Tijuana, Mexico. Media can be two- or three-dimensional or video and must have been completed in the last five years.

All entries must be submitted through the online portal (ljathenaeum.org/juried-exhibition). The entry fee per artist is $15 for Athenaeum members and $20 for nonmembers.

The Juried Exhibition will be on view from Saturday, Aug through Saturday, Oct 10, with an opening reception at 5:30 pm Friday, July 31. Prize winners, including the recipient of the Leslie Von Kolb Memorial Award, will be announced at the opening reception.
