Located at the northern edge of La Jolla, Torrey Pines State Beach offers a beautiful blend of wide sandy shores and scenic hiking opportunities. It’s a favorite spot for swimming, surfing, and fishing, with restrooms and picnic areas available. The beach stretches from Black’s Beach north into Del Mar and provides ample space for walking, running or sitting.
Just steps away, the adjacent Torrey Pines State Natural Reserve features a network of trails, a visitor center, and stair access up from the beach—perfect for those looking to explore more of La Jolla’s stunning coastline.
Parking Tips:
There are two main paid lots: South Beach and North Beach. The South Beach lot often fills up quickly, especially during summer, and will close once full. A flashing light at the entrance kiosk indicates when it’s at capacity—visible from High Bridge or Carmel Valley Road—to help you avoid unnecessary detours. Street parking is also available, but spots fill quickly.
